Turfway Park Racing & Gaming
Florence, KY
You can play the slots or gamble on the horses at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, but working with AWCI member Performance Contracting is always a safe bet, especially if you need drywall work.
The project at the Turfway gaming facility incorporated a number of different drywall products: exterior glass-mat sheathing board for all exterior wall sheathing, 395,000 square feet of wallboard throughout, including 75,000 square feet of drywall at soffits and ceilings, drywall cornerbeads, trims and reveals. This drywall project was more difficult than most because the majority of the interior drywall footage was installed and finished within six months due to a change in the work schedule. Another challenge was the height of the roof deck, which created a lot of high wall and ceiling drywall work with aerial platforms. Two-thirds of the building had a roof deck height between 25 and 30 feet tall, and three rows of wallboard were used at staggered heights on these walls.
Drywall was specifically used throughout the soffits and ceilings to create unique ceiling elements. Radius soffits and covers and multi-tiered soffits and covers were in a number of areas and required 75,000 square feet of drywall.
The ceiling feature on the gaming floor is a two-tiered cove soffit that was curved as it travels the entire length of the area with an exposed roof deck ceiling on one side.
The gallery area included two-sided cove soffits in rectangular shapes down the length of the gallery.
The sports bar has drywall ceilings and angled soffit faces at the entrance and into the seating booths. Drywall reveals above the angled soffit faces separate the different paint color design pattern.
Congratulations to the team at Performance Contracting for their exceptional drywall work on the Turfway gaming facility.
