Acoustic Gypsum Board

Easier, more efficient acoustic interior finishing is now possible with new CertainTeed® SilentFX® QuickCut noise-reducing gypsum board. A superior choice when compared to typical resilient channel or double layer wallboard applications, SilentFX QuickCut allows building professionals to achieve acoustical control through a much less complicated installation process. It scores and snaps like regular drywall and achieves more reliable lab to field STC results when compared to traditional methods, where errors often occur when clips and channels are compromised at the job site.

Designed for residential and commercial construction projects requiring a high sound transmission class rating of 50 and higher, the wallboard can be used for interior walls and ceilings in new construction or renovations over wood or steel framing. It provides square foot savings and high STC ratings with less product, which allows for thinner wall systems. In addition, it addresses high and low frequency noises that double layer gypsum board cannot, and is more reliable than clips and channels by eliminating the possibility of decoupling or short-circuiting during or after installation.

SilentFX QuickCut consists of a viscoelastic polymer that is sandwiched between two dense core gypsum boards. Engineered to provide enhanced protection against moisture and mold with M2Tech® technology, it is also enclosed in 100% recycled moisture and mold-resistant paper. Manufactured as a 1/2" single panel without paper or metal in the center, it is easy to score and snap and can be cut and hung with a conventional drywall knife. SilentFX QuickCut is also available in a fire- and abuse-resistant 5/8” Type X board.

GreenGuard Gold certified, SilentFX QuickCut meets several acoustic building guidelines, performance criteria and codes.
