It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Barbara Kono on September 4, 2024. She was lifelong supporter of the wall and ceiling industry and the executive director of the Hawaii Wall and Ceiling Industry Association (a member of AWCI since 1981). She was also an avid golfer and the club secretary for and member of Golf Addicts Hawaii. She was a pilot, a horseback rider, a diver and an entrepreneur as well. To her family, she was a loving mother and grandmother and would go out of her way to be there always for her organizations and her many endeavors.
The Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry will be donating to the Hawaii Wall and Ceiling Industry Association Scholarship Fund in Barbara’s name (https://hwcia.com/hwcia-scholarship-fund).
The Hawaii Wall and Ceiling Industry Association Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to provide educational assistance to members of the HWCIA and/or their dependents who are entering either a two- or four-year college.
