EIFS—Doing It Right® Course Schedule Announced
AWCI’s EIFS—Doing It Right® program will be offered in three locations this fall and winter: Las Vegas on Oct. 27–28, Fort Lauderdale on Feb. 9–10 and Phoenix on Mar. 16–17.
The program runs Monday and Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers instruction in generic EIFS installations according to industry standards. Those who pass the exam on the second day receive a nationally recognized credential in one of three categories: EIFS Mechanic, EIFS Industry Professional or EIFS Inspector. There are pre-qualifications for each category.
A participant in one of this year’s courses provided the following feedback: “The class exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed the mix of slides, videos, jobsite experience and anecdotes. Kept it moving and interesting. The layering of video, then slides to reinforce what you just heard on video, was a good learning technique. I learned new things about EIFS and reinforced things I already knew. It was of great value.”

Fall Conference Provides Education Sessions on BIM, Ownership Transfers
Attend AWCI’s Industry Executives’ Conference & Committee Meetings in Baltimore Oct. 7–10, and you will have the opportunity to learn why you should invest in Building Information Modeling, and how to best transfer the ownership of your business.
Those who come to Charm City for the conference will be able to listen to a panel of BIM experts talk about everything from how much you should invest in BIM (if you haven’t already), to what your return on investment will be. The panel experts include Ashish Peters of The Raymond Group, Travis Vap of South Valley Drywall and Michael Vickery of BakerTriangle—all companies that have found much success with BIM.
This education session will be presented Oct. 8. On the next day, Oct. 9, the education session features an expert from FMI along with AWCI member contractors who have been involved with the sale or purchase of a contracting company. “Ownership Transition Techniques that Work” covers the basic transition options (a bestowed gift, a sale to an employee or a sale to a third party), surety and shareholders.
In addition to the education sessions, AWCI members have the opportunity to shape the future of their industry and their association by attending one of the many committee meetings that will take place throughout the conference. Receptions offer extra networking opportunities, the Foundation of the Wall and Ceiling Industry is hosting its annual golf tournament and raffle, and a food tour of Baltimore’s famous waterfront, Fells Point, is also on the agenda.
Details on the conference and more can be found at www.awci.org/iec.shtml.
