Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is extending the deadline for submitting comments on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) regarding Heat Injury and Illness Prevention in Outdoor and Indoor Work Settings. The new deadline is January 14, 2025, providing stakeholders more time to review the NPRM and gather the necessary information and data for their comments. Additionally, OSHA will hold an informal public hearing on the proposed rule starting June 16, 2025. The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on August 30, 2024.

The virtual public hearing will begin on June 16, 2025, at 9:30 am, with the possibility of continuing on subsequent weekdays if needed. Further details on how to access the hearing will be available on OSHA’s website. Those wishing to testify or ask questions must submit a Notice of Intention to Appear (NOITA) electronically by May 2, 2025. Additionally, individuals requesting more than 10 minutes for their presentation or planning to submit documentary evidence must provide their full testimony and any documentary materials by May 23, 2025.
