The association’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Wayne James (pictured), former executive director of the Texas Lathing and Plastering Contractors Association (SCWCPA’s predecessor).

James was instrumental in developing several important membership service programs that aided contractors and promoted the association members’ industries. He developed the contractors manual and had a major role in the revision of the Lath & Plaster Systems Manual on CD-ROM.

His efforts to promote exterior insulation and finish systems in the local building codes led the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industry to name him the association executive of the year in 1991 and 1993. In 2000 he established the TLPCA awards program. He retired in 2005.
